Every Heart a Doorway Review:
I’ve heard great things about this book in the past few months, so I decided that I would give this book a try and see for myself. I went into this book not knowing much about it (which I feel is the best way to go into this story). I didn’t really have any expectations about this but I feel like the story was lacking development both in the story and with the characters.
I did have some problems, I didn’t understand the rules of this world, I understand some of it but overall I was still very confused. I didn’t really understand the difference between the way the worlds were classified, they didn’t make sense to me, I wish that it would have been explained better.
Despite my problems with the book I did enjoy it, it was an interesting concept with great characters. I love portal fantasies and I really need to read more, this takes a unique spin on those types of fantasies. The diversity was also something I really enjoyed, I prefer books where it’s not the main focus of the story, this may be because I really only read fantasy and I feel like when it’s the main focus is in contemporary (which I rarely read).
The characters were great and very interesting, I loved learning about their different worlds, and I believe that we might delve more into those in later books. The ending I was a little disappointed, I feel like it was a little bit of a let down compared to the rest of the book. I feel if it had been a little longer and the ending was fleshed out it would have been better. I definitely am looking forward to reading more of this series and see more of these worlds and how the classification system works.
